AI-ISP refers to AI Image Signal Processing. It is a technology that combines artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms with image signal processing (ISP) techniques. AI-ISP enhances image and video quality by applying advanced AI algorithms to the raw image data captured by a camera. This technology enables various image enhancements, such as noise reduction, dynamic range expansion, image sharpening, and color optimization, resulting in improved visual clarity and accuracy.
Traditional ISP (Image Signal Processor) is a specialized hardware module used for processing images. It is typically integrated with an image sensor and is responsible for processing and optimizing the raw image data obtained from the sensor.
By incorporating AI into the key modules of ISP, such as HDR, 3DNR noise reduction, tone mapping, and demosaic, we achieve optimal performance and visual enhancements in the AI-powered ISP. These modules, which are crucial and perceptible to the human eye, are AI-optimized to deliver the best results throughout the entire AI ISP process.

In low-light conditions, the poor sensitivity of the sensor leads to a rapid decline in color image clarity. Conventional ISPs struggle to maintain a balance between image details and color reproduction. Brightness enhancement often introduces increased noise. However, AI-ISP achieves a better balance between color and clarity in night scenes. It accomplishes this by effectively reducing noise, thereby improving brightness and providing customers with superior video quality.
